Samsung Galaxy Tab S4: Is anyone still interested?
Samsung recently showed what the Galaxy Tab S4 will look like. It has a slimmer bezel compared to the S3 resulted in a bigger display.
Noticeably, there is no front camera, but it looks to have a couple of sensors at the top. The rest is pretty much the same as the previous versions. The company has not yet released the other specifications, but it might happen on August 31, 2018, during the IFA 2018.
With all the impressive Android devices today, we can’t help but ask, is anyone still interested in Samsung tablets? The 2017 record shows that there has been a great decline in tablet sales and analysts expect it to go worse this year.
Here are some of the probable reasons why people stopped using Android tablets.
It’s like a notebook that has no physical keyboard. People who are used to using smartphones don’t want to carry tablets going out because they will be required to carry along at least an 8 inches bag. And it’s very attractive to the eyes of snatchers.
Another thing why a big screen is not advisable in public areas is that other people nearby can easily read your conversations when chatting.
Cases of Breakdown when Updating
Samsung Tablets doesn’t have enough support from the company, but they still manufacture it. There have been cases in the past when the device just bootloops itself to death when updating to newer versions of Android.
This problem was fixed with the S3 and you can update it to Android Oreo. Unfortunately, most people no longer want to risk losing their money for poor reasons.
Big but Small Storage
The storage provided for Samsung Tabs is way too small for this big device. Even the S3 only has 64GB max. Although it is expandable via SD card, 64GB is not just enough if you have too many moving apps. Especially, Android tablets are usually used for gaming and entertainment.
We are yet to find out if the company has addressed this issue with the Galaxy Tab S4.
iPad is Better
Due to lack of technical support from the company, people are slowly switching to using iPad instead. Samsung, in past reports, is fond of making promises but will deliver the fix too late. On the other hand, iPad offers better specs, bigger storage, and better experience.
What Can Samsung Do?
Samsung probably made a new and improved Galaxy Tab this year to finally end the cold sales streak. So many have already lost their faith in the tablets, and it might be challenging for the company to make them fall in love with the device again.
The best thing Samsung can do is rack it with features available in smartphones. We noticed there is only one rear camera, Samsung should make it two. They should also improve their technical support and avoid committing software mistakes.
If they address these problems, people no doubt will return in using tablets. It may not be outdoor-friendly, but it makes a pretty cool device inside the house.
