BlackBerry KEY2: Nostalgic Design, Faster Typing
It’s easy to identify a BlackBerry phone when visiting an IT store. Even there are thousands of brands piled over each other, you can immediately recognize a BlackBerry because of its unique design.
Blackberry never adopted the fullscreen touchscreen design. Well, they might’ve tried but realized it didn’t sit well for them. That’s the main reason why BlackBerry fans have been holding on it for years. The launching of BlackBerry KEYone last year brings goosebumps and memories of the good old days.
After a year, the company is back with a new keyboard-toting phone – the BlackBerry KEY2. It has a lot of new features and updated design, and of course, running on the latest version of Android. Should this be our new phone? Let’s take a look!
The BalckBerry KEY2 maintains the nostalgic ambiance of the KEYone but placed a few more icing. The curves of the KEYone have been made flatter with straighter edges. The device is also one-millimeter thinner as well as 12 grams lighter making it more comfortable when holding and showcasing a better typing experience.
The keys have also moved to the righthand side of the KEY2, the power button redesigned with a textured finish, to provide a more unified experience and style.
If you hate pressing the wrong button and misspelling things every time when typing on a touchscreen keypad, KEY2 has eliminated that problem. The latest flagship promises a better and faster typing experience by making the keys 20 percent larger and in-between space. Oh, and there’s still that cool fingerprint sensor on the space bar.
However, those are just the peak of the iceberg. The big addition to this phone is the new speed key. What we love about BlackBerry is how we can set up a key to launch apps, shortcuts, or any features directly from the home screen when tapped or long pressed. In KEYone, these shortcuts only work on the home screen, but with KEY2 you can do it on any screen regardless of what app is currently open.
The KEY2 will also be the first BlackBerry to feature a dual-camera. The rear camera has two 12MP sensors, with the main sensor offering f/1.8 aperture and 1.28μm pixel size. The second sensor has a 12MP resolution with a f/2.6 aperture, 1µ pixel size, and a telephoto lens offering 2X zoom. The front camera has an 8MP sensor with a f/2.0 aperture and 1.12μm pixel size.
The phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo right out of the box. Apparently, the company stated that they may update it to Android P. Whether users will have the ability to choose the Android version they prefer, we don’t know yet. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660.
The software and UI are also greatly enhanced promising better security and phone experience. It can also learn your battery charging habit and remind you to charge when the hour comes. It can even detect the time of your daily heavy use. If it detects heavy activity at 12nn, it will remind you to recharge battery hours before.
The BlackBerry KEY2 will be launch in the US, Canada, UK, Germany, China and France by the end of June. It is expected to roll out on other markets starting July. The initial price will be $649, but this could go lower or higher on other countries.

What Customers are Saying
I called on One Click Root after my own initial attempt for root bricked my LG G4 (H81010o). If you have a new phone running the latest and more challenging software, then I recommend this service. Its well worth the money. Technician "JJ" helped me and was a smooth and very capable professional. Rarely do I pay for tech support or make endorsements so purchase with confidence, these folks are legit!
