Coming up: Oppo under-display selfie camera and Samsung Galaxy Note 10

Android phones continue to flood the market and new ones with better specs are expected to arrive before the end of the year. And these are not just ordinary phones, some of them are one of the most anticipated units from the biggest brands in the smartphone market.

Without further ado, here are the hottest news of the two most exciting Android phones arriving soon:

Oppo to reveal the first phone with under-display selfie camera soon

Earlier this year, Oppo announced that it has been developing a phone in which the selfie camera (front-facing camera) is hidden behind the screen. This is indeed an incredible feat, but we haven’t heard any development of the said phone a few months after the revelation, until, of course, very recently.

This update doesn’t come from Oppo itself but from a reliable YouTube channel TechAltar who announced that he will be showing off a prototype phone with an under-display camera next week. Apparently, the YouTuber also noted that the real phone is not expected to arrive soon within months.

TechAltar wrote on Twitter:

“Confirmed: OPPO will show a prototype phone with an under-screen selfie camera at MWC Shanghai. I hear they’ll have demo units. Real device not expected for a few months at least (my guess would be 1 year min., similar to how they launched SuperVOOC and 5x zoom)”

A selfie camera under the screen would allow manufacturers to ditch notches, pop-up selfie cameras, and slider designs. But picture quality via these cameras is still a concern, with Oppo VP Brian Shen previously stating that there will be a drop-in picture quality at this stage.

Fortunately, Oppo may have to change its strategy and release the phone earlier than what the masses expected since Xiaomi is also eyeing to release the same feature as revealed at the MWC Shanghai Expo earlier this year.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10 may arrive as early as August 7

We’ve heard a lot of rumors, but it looks like the date and venue for the launch of Samsung Galaxy Note 10 is officially at hand.

CNET reports that the new Samsung Galaxy Note 10 will launch on August 7 at the Barclays Center, New York City – the same venue for the launch of Samsung Galaxy Note 9.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 series is tipped to be available in standard and Pro variants, with the Pro model said to offer a bigger screen and four rear cameras. The standard variant is believed to only offer three shooters.

Previously leaked renders don’t show a Bixby button or 3.5mm port though. The former omission wouldn’t be a massive loss, but the lack of a 3.5mm port is far more divisive. Those wanting a Samsung flagship with a 3.5mm port should probably get the Galaxy S10 series instead then.

That’s it for the new Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Oppo under-display selfie camera. We expect to hear more details about these incredible phones in the coming months, or weeks, or days. So, stay tuned.
